Project: Mature Cartoons: The Evolution of Subgenres in Adult Animation

Overview: A look into the superficial world of adult animation. From the Simpsons to Family Guy, an assortment of mature cartoons were analyzed. Discussed are the themes of the dysfunctional family, the role of delinquent juvenile, the parody cartoon, as well as the emerging 'Bizarre' subgenre.

Project: Balancing the Blogosphere: The Imperative of Establishing a Social Contract for the Blogging Community

Overview: Blogging tools have introduced some of the first available technology that allows nearly anyone to create their own personalized editorial product. Bloggers have become the latest innovators, entrepreneurs and whistleblowers. Discussed is the need for developping an ethical code for bloggers in order to obtain a social contact for the web.

Project: Evaluating the Impact of HIV/AIDS Education on Safe Sex Practices in High School Students
Class: Social Psychology Lab
Style: Social Psychology Research (APA)
Overview: Using the 2005 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey, a survey given to high school students in grades 9 through 12, the correlations between HIV/AIDS education were examined to determine their influences on student’s safe sex practices. Results revealed a significant positive correlation between HIV/AIDS education and condom use in students’ most recent sexual encounter. and considerable positive associations between HIV/AIDS education and type of contraceptive used during their most recent sexual encounter.

Project: The Power of Reinforcement: The Role of Reinforcement in Chronic Pain and Illness

Overview: Stephen Ray Flora, the author of The Power of Reinforcement, believes that reinforcement, though widely critiqued, is one of the most powerful tools for building upon human behavior. This research report looks into the extensive support Flora offers for the fundamental practice of behavioral psychology, focusing namely on positive and negative reinforcement principles, in addition to other research findings that tend to support the notion of reinforcement to varying degrees.

Project: The Rise of Avant-Garde Feminsm: A look into the key players & rhetoric in the women’s movement of the mid-late 19th century

Style: Rhetoric Research
Overview: Women like Fannie Barrier Williams and Susan B. Anthony immensely contributed to the women's movement through their inspiring contributions of both intellectual ideas and historical rhetoric. To illustrate the importance of their efforts and to analyze their approaches, this essay examines “The Intellectual Progress of the Colored Women of the United States Since the Emancipation Proclamation,” a speech by Williams from 1893, as well as “Women’s Right to Vote,” a speech given by Anthony in 1873.

Project: Customer Service in Retail Stores: The Effects of Confederate Appearance and Store Type
Class: Social Psychology Lab
Style: Social Psychology Research (APA)
Overview: Customer service in 3 tiers of retail stores was examined in this research report. For the initial round of research the confederates were dressed in formal apparel, and for the 2nd round the confederates were dressed in casual apparel. The amount of time it took for the confederates to be approached by sales personnel was observed. The results revealed that while the effect of attire did not approach significance, an effect for the type of store was found for high-end and middle-end stores.

Project: Reactivity to instructed smoking availability and environmental cues: evidence with urge and reaction time

Overview: This report looked into findings in Juliano & Brandon's (1998) research assessing the role cognitions associated with drug use potentially play in eliciting reactivity. Their study found that drug related cues can potentially serve as classically conditioned stimuli that produce respective conditioned responses often inducing setbacks or relapse. Such findings suggests that extinction-based interventions should reduce the risk of relapse.

Overview: Online professional networks allow companies and business professionals to connect nearly anywhere, and they draw in to everyone from Fortune 500 recruiters to small business owners and their employees. Discussed is the popular professional networking site, LinkedIn.com, which offers various opportunities including employment prospects, closing deals, finding potential clients, and more at the click of a mouse. Professional online networking simplifies the process of visualizing professional networks in a more appealing and convenient technological means.
